2025 Event

Grand African Run DC is an annual mass participation road run (walk/ jog) followed by a post-race social event. The event has two different races: 5K family run and a 1K Kids run.

5K RUN

5K Family Run is open to anyone (young /old, men/women, able- bodied/disabled). Everyone is welcomed, and participants will have an opportunity to line up with world famous athletes, high profile personalities (musicians, politicians, actors, speakers, religious leaders) to rejoice in the 5 km long sporting festival.

• Event Duration: 7:00am – 12:30pm

CHILDREN RACE/WALK

Children Race/Walk is believed to be a great way to introduce girls and boys to running and active walking, and to provide them with a space to celebrate their culture and community. A parent or guardian is welcome to run alongside the kids, however, parents are encouraged to let them run on their own to experience the joy of crossing the finish line independently in a safe and supportive environment.

WHEN IS THE EVENT?

The event will take place on the 11th of October 2025. The event will be concluded before noon.

 

WHERE IS THE EVENT?

The event starts and finishes at 1100 Main Line Blvd, Alexandria, VA 22301. Your parking will be at George Washington Middle School - 1005 Mt Vernon Ave, Alexandria, VA 22301.

HOW CAN I REGISTER?

To register, please go to www.africanrun.com. When you finish registering, you will receive a confirmation email with a ticket. Please bring that ticket with your photo ID to collect your event package. Your event package includes a T-shirt, a race bib, water bottle, and other event materials. The package will be collected on Thursday (October 9) and Friday (October 10) before the event. The package pick-up locations are: (1) in Maryland at Lucy Kitchen (8301 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20910) and (2) in Virginia at Alexandria Toyota (3750 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305)
